Are IT companies overestimating AI productivity gains?

Tech Mahindra CEO Mohit Joshi says IT firms are overpromising when it comes to AI. He may be right.

Earlier this week, Tech Mahindra chief executive Mohit Joshi said that IT companies are promising 70-80% productivity gains from artificial intelligence in five years to their clients and that this is an unsustainable and “dangerous bet” that is “in the realms of fantasy”. Joshi’s comments come just as a number of IT services firms in India are releasing their first-quarter results and reiterating their commitment to making AI investments.
