Are we really headed towards an AI-driven leisure economy?

Ari Emanuel’s $3 billion bet on live entertainment rests on the assumption that artificial intelligence will reduce working hours and increase the demand for leisure. But it’s hard to imagine such a future, particularly in India.

Hollywood businessman Ari Emanuel has made a very public and expensive wager on the possibility of a new kind of leisure economy emerging in the near future. 

The former CEO of entertainment and media agency Endeavor, who currently heads TKO Group (parent of WWE, among others), has raised almost $3 billion from investors like Apollo Global Management and the Qatar Investment Authority. He’s launching a new events company, MARI. The idea is that artificial intelligence will ensure higher efficiency and shorter work weeks, freeing up time and creating greater demand for leisure and entertainment.
