Facebook parent Meta, last week, made waves with its announcement that it is stopping its third-party fact-checking programme and moving to a Community Notes model used by X, formerly known as Twitter.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s founder and CEO, justified the move by saying that its systems for managing content across platforms like Facebook and Instagram have “gone too far” and that they get in the way of free expression.
