How Indian startups plan for microdrama success

Many companies have raised funding on the premise of offering short-form fiction video series aimed at mobile consumption.

Earlier this month, digital content company Chai Bisket raised $5 million in funding to launch Chai Shots, an over-the-top (OTT) platform offering short-form fiction on mobile phones. It is the latest in a series of small startups and larger players entering the nascent microdrama industry in India. 

The sector has seen a lot of buzz in recent months. Last month, for instance, Flick TV also raised $2.3 million in seed funding. And in May, ReelSaga raised $2.1 million in a seed round.
