How Netflix, Disney+ password sharing crackdown will yield limited results

Streaming platforms are cracking down on users sharing their accounts with others to improve subscriber numbers. But this is unlikely to lead to long-term growth.

Netflix was the first major streaming platform to crack down on users sharing their accounts. Other platforms like Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max were quick to follow. Disney’s financial results announced earlier this month and Netflix’s results earlier this year indicate that this crackdown is working for the platforms.
