Indian IT companies are rethinking the staffing pyramid ahead of AI disruption

The recent layoffs at TCS have drawn attention to the chances of AI disruption in the industry. While AI is not yet directly causing staffing changes, it is definitely shaping them.

The recent decision of Tata Consultancy Services to lay off about 2% of its workforce has raised quite a few alarm bells. In fact, all of India’s top six IT services players are going through a hiring slowdown. This has been attributed to the strain on the industry caused by global uncertainties and artificial intelligence. But the reality is not all that simple.
