Star Health says it is investigating CISO’s role in data leak

A hacker who used Telegram chatbots to disseminate customer data accused chief information security officer Amarjeet Khanuja of playing a role in the leak.

Star Health and Allied Insurance Co. Ltd. is now investigating whether its chief information security officer had a role to play in a massive data leak that compromised personally identifiable information of its 31 million customers, Reuters reported. 

The Chennai-based insurance company’s investigation follows accusations by a hacker, xenZen, who used Telegram chatbots to distribute the compromised data, which included names, phone numbers, ID documents, medical details and more.
