Whatever happened to the Gujarati stockbroker?

In a little over two decades, the community once synonymous with the broking business has almost completely vacated the space to newer players.

On Gandhi Jayanti, Bihar released the results of its caste survey. Being the first instance of a state putting out such data, it naturally captured the imagination of the rest of the country. The survey put the cumulative share of extremely backward classes and other backward classes at over 63% of the 13 crore population. The so-called “forward” castes added up to a mere 15.5%.
