Termination of over 100 TISS employees withdrawn

Those given termination letters were engaged in programmes funded by the Tata Education Trust on a contractual basis.

After much backlash for firing over 100 employees without notice, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) on Sunday withdrew its termination notice.

TISS said it was forced to issue these letters to 55 faculty members and 60 non-teaching staff across four campuses after it didn’t receive funds from the Tata Education Trust (TET). The “deemed-to-be university” is funded by the University Grants Commission and governed by the TISS Society under UGC’s guidelines.
