Modi, Biden forge pact to set up a semiconductor fab unit

The plant will make semiconductors for use in national security, next-generation telecommunications and green energy applications.

India and the US seem to have signed a “watershed agreement” on setting up a semiconductor fabrication plant. The plant will be enabled by the India Semiconductor Mission and involve a strategic technology partnership between New Delhi-based electronics startup Bharat Semi, Berkeley-based imaging sensor startup 3rdiTech and the US Space Force, a joint fact sheet released by the White House said. 

The development comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden. Modi is in the US to attend the Quad meeting.
