Editor's note: Software-as-a-service firm Freshworks has started the process of layoffs across teams. On Thursday, several employees were called into their offices by their reporting managers and informed that they were fired, a person aware of the matter told The Morning Context, asking not to be named. YourStory first reported the job cuts. The number of people being laid off is unclear. No official email has gone out to the employees informing them of the layoffs, but one is expected to land tonight. The Chennai-founded and California-headquartered firm is also discontinuing its HR software Freshteam. While most of the team members have been laid off, some are expected to be reassigned roles. So far, the Nasdaq-listed firm’s marketing team has been hit the most by the layoffs. During an all-hands call two months ago, the company had said that layoffs were not on the cards for now, given that it had a billion dollars in the bank.
