On Wednesday, Meta shareholders voted against a proposal to study the company’s political entanglements and content management biases in India.
The proposal, submitted by non-profit advocacy firm Ekō, garnered only 5% of votes in support. It had argued that Meta was “a critical catalyst of religious violence in India” and its “lack of transparency concerning India presents a clear and present danger to the Company’s reputation, operations and investors”.
