Global investment firm KKR is the latest to expand its presence in the Middle East, it said on Monday. Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director David Petraeus has been appointed as chairman for KKR’s Middle East operations.
The firm also announced the creation of a dedicated investment team for the region, to be led by Julian Barratt-Due, a managing director at KKR with a track record in infrastructure investments. These moves are supposedly intended to deepen KKR’s long-term commitment in the Middle East, where it has been present since 2009 and has been deploying capital directly since 2019.
