Zee says it is not liable to pay for the damages worth $940 million that Star India has sought.
The discord between Zee and Disney-owned Star India seems to have intensified over damage claims for their now-terminated $1.4 billion cricket broadcasting deal.
On Monday, Star India sought around Rs 7,865 crore ($940 million) from Zee Entertainment Enterprises in damages for the terminated broadcast deal. On Wednesday, Zee denied it was liable to pay for any damages.
The agreement, signed in August 2022, would have given Zee television broadcasting rights for International Cricket Council (ICC) events for four years until 2027.
