Ride-hailing startup InDrive’s swift but alarming growth in India

The Russian-origin cab app, while gaining traction in India for its bid-based fare model, faces questions about its customer support and safety measures.

A woman requests a cab on a ride-hailing app. The assigned driver refuses to come to her location and asks her to cancel the request. She obliges and moves on. Sometime later, she gets a call from the driver, asking her for money. She refuses outright. A few hours later, her phone starts ringing and doesn’t stop for a long time. By the time it does, she has received 200 calls until she realizes that the driver had shared her contact details with a “group of 500 drivers”. She shares her experience on Twitter.
