In late October, a whistleblower letter addressed to civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia startled everyone in the aviation industry with its litany of corruption charges against a particular official in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
The most startling of the allegations was that Anil Gill, director of the flying and training department of DGCA, had, in lieu of favours, forced flying training organizations (FTOs) to sell their aircraft to his benami companies only so he could lease them back to the same organizations at huge profits.
