Editor's note: The ongoing saga between the international governing body for football, FIFA, and the All India Football Federation (its Indian counterpart) has had more twists and turns than a Quentin Tarantino movie. Things are changing so fast that it is hard to keep track. Still, here goes: A Supreme Court bench comprising Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice A.S. Bopanna reversed itself and disbanded the Committee of Administrators, or CoA, it had earlier appointed to create a new constitution for the All India Football Federation and to hold free, fair and transparent elections to the AIFF executive council.The date for fresh elections has been extended by a week, from the earlier deadline of 28 August.The day-to-day management of the AIFF, hitherto in the hands of the CoA, will now be handled by the AIFF administration, led by the AIFF acting general secretary.FIFA will revoke the ban it had imposed last week on the AIFF, which, in turn, will allow India to host the upcoming U-17 Women’s World Cup.
