Delhi lawyer says AZB & Partners paid him for Amazon work

Statements in a legal notice sent to The Morning Context raise more questions around Amazon probe into corruption allegations against its legal representatives.

Last week, we reported that Amazon Inc. has initiated an investigation into the conduct of its legal representatives in India. In April this year, a whistleblower whose identity remains unknown, alleged that some part of what Amazon paid in legal fees had been funnelled into bribes by one or more of its legal representatives in India. 

The whistleblower’s complaint points to the role played by Vikas Chopra, an independent advocate in New Delhi who works with Amazon as an outside counsel for hire. Late last week, Chopra through his lawyer sent a legal notice to The Morning Context claiming our …
