Paytm management summoned by labour commissioner over layoffs

The move is in response to several employees of the fintech firm filing complaints alleging that they were forced to resign without notice or severance.

Paytm parent One97 Communications’s management has reportedly been summoned by the regional labour commissioner of Bengaluru over allegations of forced termination of employees without pay, Moneycontrol said. 

Paytm employees had filed complaints with the Ministry of Labour and Employment, accusing the fintech major of violating laws and forcing employees to resign.

The commissioner’s notice urged representatives from Paytm’s management and complainants to appear at the department’s office with all relevant records. According to Inc42’s report, this was not a summons but an invitation to discuss the matter.
