Xiaomi finally replaces Manu Jain
The Chinese smartphone maker has announced Alvin Tse as its new India head, months after the popular Jain quietly left the country.

Editor's note: After months of uncertainty and speculation, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has finally announced what its former India managing director, Manu Jain, has been up to. In a press announcement earlier today, Xiaomi said that “after seven years in India, last year Jain transitioned into a global role as group vice president and is currently responsible for International Strategy including International Marketing and PR.” We had reported in April that Jain had quietly moved out of the country last year ahead of a government crackdown; for months, nobody outside the company and few inside had any clue about what had happened. In a court filing last month, Xiaomi India alleged “physical violence” threats from the Enforcement Directorate during a probe. Jain, chief financial officer Sameer B.S.
